It was the first snowfall on Christmas Eve in Fort Worth in 83 years. It was my first White Christmas, my mom's first and most importantly Jack's first. We have always been a lucky family and it appears that Jack has inherited his Grandaddy's luck. This snow must surely be a sign of the charmed future that lies ahead for our little man.
As lovely as the snow was, it was also kind of a pain. Christmas Eve services were cancelled. The Dockers had to add an additional four hours to their long drive from Pennsylvania. We were worried about whether or not my parents could safely make the drive from Southwest Fort Worth to spend Christmas morning with us.
But all made it safely and Christmas could not be spoiled by a little winter weather. The snow made our house look like a perfect winter cottage on Christmas morning. The inside of our home felt so warm and special knowing how bitter cold it was outside. We loved the little snowman Nana made for Jack. And by afternoon, it was nice enough to take a walk around the block (after some serious bundling) to walk off some Christmas calories.
I don't think Jack's first Christmas could have been any more wondeful. He was surrounded by so much love. It was so special having all of his grandparents and Aunt Suzie there with us.
A little snow didn't keep Santa from coming.
All dressed up for Christmas Eve service with no place to go.
Opening up his baby piano from Mommy & Daddy.
