One year!

Time flies when you're having fun and it just blows my mind how quickly Jack grows and changes.  If you've been wondering what this little boy has been up to (other than TURNING ONE!!), here's an update on my little man.

Jack has a new favorite game - Pop Goes the Weasel.  He hangs on to the side of the couch or coffee table, squats down and then abruptly pops up to a stand and smiles waiting for someone to say 'Pop Goes the Weasel'!  Sometimes he gets lazy and will crawl up on me and just raise his head up and wait for someone to say 'Pop.'  He has definitely learned how his actions can get a reaction from the adults in the room.  And he is LOVING IT!!

Jack can make a new little kissy noise.  He puckers up his little lips and ssmmoooch!  It totally rocks my world.  He is also learning to give kisses, but they are mostly open mouth and very sloppy.

Jack is mastering lots of sounds, although I am skeptical of how much meaning he's associating with his new words.  He has a very specific sound for cat (sounds like gat).  It is also the word he uses for every other animal he sees.  Going to the zoo for his birthday, we saw a lot of cats.   Jack has been saying MaMa and DaDa for a while, but again, the sounds are not always used exclusively for me and Bryce.  His most recent word seems to be ball, or it could be balloon.  Both are round and sound alike.  It's hard to tell.

Speaking of balls, Jack loves to play with them - baseballs, footballs, golf balls, bouncy balls. He's discovered another kind of balls in the bathtub, which is also a mileston, I guess.

Jack is also just now getting into cars and will say "Vroom, Vroom" when playing with his hot wheels.  I think it is so cute!

Jack loves to open and close things - cabinet doors, mailboxes, waterbottles, anything with a lid.
Jack is eating all kinds of finger foods on his own.  He loves mexican food - guacamole, quesadillas, beans & rice.  He loves his dad's homemade pizza too.  He also eats lots of fruits - grapes, strawberries and bananas are the easiest to get him to eat.  He would like to start feeding himself with the spoon.  It is a ridiculous mess because he doesn't understand how shaking the spoon and waiving it in the air in between scooping the food and putting it in his mouth is not a good idea. So, I don't always let him.

Jack is an expert crawler and an excellent cruiser, but he doesn't seem that interested in trying to walk.  He has just recently discovered how to take a few steps with his little push walker.  But he will only do it if he knows the adults in the room will cheer for him as he does it.  He's a kid who likes lots of praise and loves to be the center of attention.  I wonder where he gets that from?!?

Jack has been a very busy boy learning lots of new tricks and discovering new fun things.  But he's still the same sweet easy going kid who's always smiling and having fun.
